HEAR OUR PRAYER

1.  Led by the Spirit, let us join the whole people of God in Christ Jesus in praying for the church, those in need and all of God’s creation

     A brief period of silence

2.  We pray for this congregation and for all communities of faith that they would be faithful and courageous in their ministry to their members and to the community. In particular we pray for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for the congregations of our BC Synod. At this time we pray for St Paul Lutheran Church in Prince Rupert and their pastor, Jim Whaley; for Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Richmond and their pastor, Tim Le Drew and for Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in North Vancouver as they install their new pastor Rev. Jennifer Marlor. May the mission of this congregation, with its ongoing ministries of stewardship, fellowship, outreach and worship, be seen by their members and by their community as beacons of your love.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3.  Generous God, we marvel that you have claimed us as your own. Make all who serve you as our bishops, pastors, missionaries, diaconal ministers and chaplains be blessed with wisdom and joy in their ministry. We pray especially for our bishop, Greg, for our national bishop Susan and for the newly elected bishop of the Saskatchewan Synod, Reverend Dr. Sid Haugen.

4.  People of all nations yearn for leaders who are righteous. Inspire us through our deeds and our offerings to commit acts of peace, breaking down barriers, crushing complacency, and standing up to intolerance.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5.  Strengthen those who suffer. Transform their pain and their sorrow into seeing a continued purpose in their life. Transform their fear into a life of generosity, and their loneliness into a life of compassion for others. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly at this time.  Help us in this coming week to care for our neighbor.

6. God, we thank you for your many blessings past and present:

– we thank you for your continued gift of forgiveness for the times we have complained;

– we thank you for not wearying at forgiving us;

– we thank you for reminding us to be good stewards of our possessions and our time;

– we thank you at this time for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary,

or the gift of new life;

– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7.  We are called upon daily to celebrate the goodness of your creation and your mighty acts through the ages. Enable us to appreciate the smallest to the largest of wonders we see around us. May we be seen by our community and by our friends as worthy stewards of all your gifts.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8.  Into your loving hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your abundant mercy through Jesus Christ our savior AMEN.
