Prayers for April 8, 2018 – Second Sunday of Easter

With the words “O God within us and among us all” you are invited to respond:

 HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Grasping your love in our hands, we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people in need.

A moment of silence

Let we listen to your voice whispering in our ear, tracing compassion on our heart, so that it strengthens our congregation and the whole church. Give us ways to speak your love in ways that a diverse and distracted society can comprehend.

O God within and among us all

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Stir up the world, whirling and swirling, to bring peace and reconciliation. Calm the trends of destructive energy that makes our weather scary and unpredictable. And calm the deep rumblings of anxiety and dis-ease within our minds and bodies.

O God within and among us all

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Blessed are you, Incarnated God, who chose the hands and feet, hearts and minds, of our humanity as the way to touch us most deeply. Blessed are you for teaching us the beauty of the flesh and the earth that sustains it. Help us to care for ourselves with the same love you poured into Jesus Christ. Make us willing to change our habits so that the earth flourishes and resources are replenished.

O God within and among us all

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Blessed are you for choosing young and old to do your work in the world, whether or not goodness is done in your name. Nourish the people gathered here that they may be strengthened to do the good, the right, and the true. Let us participate in your heaven, here and now, and always.

O God within and among us all

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Open our eyes so that we see more and more ways to participate in your Incarnation. Make us feel the companionship of faithful people everywhere. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, the Anglican Bishop in your region and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Dunbar Lutheran in Vancouver and Pastor Thomas Keeley and our BC Synod staff.

O God within and among us all

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

You have chosen the stranger, the outcast, those suffering from injury, illness, and terrible disappointments. Let us hold these people in our hearts, reaching out with word, deed, and holy embrace. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart….

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

O God within and among us all

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Let us arise each morning, joyfully anticipating the twists and turns, the surprises and challenges, of the day ahead. In the name of the holy one of earth and heaven.

 AMEN.
