Prayers for May 6, 2018 – Sixth Sunday of Easter

With the words “Lord, listen to your children praying” you are invited to respond:

 ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Claiming a holy and wonderful delight in you, we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people in need.

A moment of silence

Holiest of Holies, your voice calls us above, beneath, and through the bellowing distractions of daily life. Teach us to hear and sing back to you one hymn of praise in the endless uniqueness of each and every voice.

Lord, listen to your children praying

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Creative God, wrap your arms around our imagination that we may turn moans and groans into deep insight and words of caring and delight. When the blues overtake us, make us listen and improvise a better way. Use our voices as conduits when those around us struggle. Secure our lives in relationships burnished by your justice and peace.

Lord, listen to your children praying

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

God of deepest love, pour healing waters over us in times of trials and tribulations. We pray for those who suffer alone, especially addicts, over-worked caregivers, and people living with schizophrenia.

Lord, listen to your children praying

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

O God of Music, make us sing songs of thankfulness and praise, of lamentation and pleading, of our shared life as your people. We say thank you for our musicians, choir directors, and hymn-writers. Bless all who lead and all who sing for worship.

Lord, listen to your children praying

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

O God of Community, make us aware of the power and comfort that comes with your communion around the world. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, Bishop in your Region, the Roman Catholic Church, Bishop in your Region, and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Church of the Cross in Victoria and Pastor Lyle McKenzie and Good Shepherd in Victoria.

Lord, listen to your children praying

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

O God of Listening, hear us when we sing the blues and help us find harmonies in the good, the bad, and the indifferent times in our lives. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart….

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Lord, listen to your children praying

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Offering our prayers in a complex harmony woven around the melodies of our days and nights.  In the name of the Christ.

 AMEN.
