Prayers for May 13, 2018 – Seventh Sunday of Easter

With the words “Lord, fill us with longing for you, ” please respond:

 HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Claiming our birthright as your beloved people, we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people in need.

A moment of silence

Nourish the soil of the earth as its days grow longer and longer. Energize us with life-giving light and warmth, as we breathe in the smells of earth’s re-awakening after winter. Bless seeds planted by birds and human hands.

Lord, fill us with longing for you

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Draw us away from the fears and hatreds that divide our world. Bless political refugees and peace-keepers working on their behalf. Let justice sweep across the globe like a glorious tsunami of change.

Lord, fill us with longing for you

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Bless mothers and grandmothers, step-mothers and foster mothers, and all those who take on a mothering role. For those whose mothering of us brought us under the tender wing of faith. Mothering God, give us rest, healing, and wisdom.

Lord, fill us with longing for you

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Make us aware, day by day, week by month, that we exist within the eternal life of Jesus. Remind us of your indestructible care in times of fear, failings, and faltering in our life’s paths. Unite us with all the saints, including Erik, King of Sweden, who died in the midst of working for fair laws and care of the poor and the sick.

Lord, fill us with longing for you

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Join us with other believers in doing good, loving mercy, and walking humbling before you. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, the Bishop in your region, the  Roman Catholic Church, the Bishop in your region and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Grace Lutheran in Victoria, Good Shepherd in Victoria, and prison ministries across Canada.

Lord, fill us with longing for you

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Use us to accompany others in times of illness and injury, fear and loneliness. Remind us always that shared joy is joy magnified, and sorrow shared is sorrow diminished. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart….

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Lord, fill us with longing for you

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Offering our prayers as both duty and delight, we place them all on the Communion Table, trusting  the power of the Resurrected Christ.

 AMEN.
