Prayers for June 24, 2018 – Time After Pentecost

With the words “O ever-present, ever-faithful One, ” you are invited to respond:

 HAVE MERCY UPON US.

Celebrating John the Baptist and our own baptisms , we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people in need.

A moment of silence

When we share the peace this day amidst this congregation, remind us to take that word out of this place and into our week-day world. Let us practise daily until our habit becomes one of distributing peace through work and action.

O ever-present, ever-faithful One

HAVE MERCY UPON US.

When you called forth the globe from chaos, you poured out the water that enables all life to exist. Send us ample rain for bountiful crops, but limit its destructive power in hurricanes, floods, and tropical storms.

O ever-present, ever-faithful One

HAVE MERCY UPON US.

When we witness conflict, violence, or injustice, make us advocates who act on behalf of truth and hope. Fill our mouths with your words, and move our limbs to change what we can in a troubled world.

O ever-present, ever-faithful One

HAVE MERCY UPON US.

When we misunderstand different traditions of faith and wisdom, give us open minds. We pray especially for our continuing conversation with our partner Anglican Church of Canada, the Bishop in your region, the Roman Catholic Church, the Bishop in your region and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Good Shepherd in Coquitlam and Pastor Eric Krushel and King of Life in Coquitlam.

O ever-present, ever-faithful One

HAVE MERCY UPON US.

When we experience hunger of all kinds, pain or violence, and sleepless nights, speak to us with the comforting sounds and songs of a tender mother. Open us to healing deep within as we turn towards you. We pray for those we name aloud or silently in our hearts.

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

O ever-present, ever-faithful One

HAVE MERCY UPON US.

Trusting that you never leave us alone, we bundle our cares and concerns and send them up through the stars. In the name of the Christ,

 AMEN.
