Prayers for August 26, 2018 – Time After Pentecost

With the words “You offer us wholeness when we are broken” you are invited to respond:

 ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Trusting the spirit flittering around us like a dove, we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people who are hungry and needy.

A moment of silence

Jesus, holy one of God, we come to this time of worship with eyes wide open to your mystery alive in each day. Enable your church to express full humanity within our communities. Remind us of the power of fleshly life, for God expresses himself fully in Jesus.

You offer us wholeness when we are broken

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Jesus, holy one of God, bless wild animals and the survival of their diversity. Bless our pets and the comfort and pleasure they bring to daily life. Guard over our prairies and kitchen gardens, beaches and sandboxes, mountains and hearths.

You offer us wholeness when we are broken

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Jesus, holy one of God, you show us the image of the eternal. Help us to embrace our bodies–their miraculous and complex functioning, their capacity for movement and joy. Surprise us with joy as we take time to pay attention the blessings of our physicality.

You offer us wholeness when we are broken

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Jesus, holy one of God, use our time together this day to strengthen our faith through worship and community. Nourished by the meal of bread and wine, we celebrate and grow in our covenant of faith. Teach us to turn toward you in good times and bad, as we walk our pilgrimage of faith.

You offer us wholeness when we are broken

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Bless our continuing communion with our partner Anglican Church of Canada, their Bishop in your region, the Roman Catholic Church, their Bishop in your region, and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Mount Olivet in North Vancouver and Pastor Carolina Glauster and Christ the King in Surrey and Pastor Lori-Anne Boutin-Crawford.

You offer us wholeness when we are broken

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

Jesus, holy one of God, remember the poor and the broken-hearted and help all those in trouble. In the face of illness, injury, and loss, teach us to find strength and solace through your quiet compassion. We pray especially for those we name aloud or silently in our hearts.

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

You offer us wholeness when we are broken

ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. AMEN.

We place all these prayers and the rumblings of our deepest selves before your feet. Alleluia. Alleluia.

 AMEN.
