Prayers for September 30, 2018 – Time After Pentecost (Autumn)

With the words “Cradle us in the blanket of your love,” you are invited to respond:

 HEAR US, WE PRAY.

Affirming that our world is your great gift to us, we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people who are hungry and needy.

A moment of silence

Lead us to discover and celebrate our unique skills and find ways for us to use them in ushering in your kingdom. Set your church on fire with compassion and the power of working together for the good of all. Make us weavers of the beautiful tapestry of human diversity.

Cradle us in the blanket of your love.  HEAR US, WE PRAY.

Help us to discover that our own influence may be small, but together we are strong. Together, we can protect the resources that sustain life and fill earth with beauty. Make us willing caretakers of the harvests of field and sea, and of rest and renewal for future crops.

Cradle us in the blanket of your love.  HEAR US, WE PRAY.

Take from us the cynicism and discouragement that prevent us from using our democratic processes to create a fair and fruitful nation. Give civic life new energy, and make us listen and respond to those who see new and better ways to manage our lives together.

Cradle us in the blanket of your love.  HEAR US, WE PRAY.

Move us with the powerful stories of our faith, that our daily lives blossom with grace. We pray each day for new insights into how to move as your people through routine everyday life–and through times of special trial and difficulty.

Cradle us in the blanket of your love.  HEAR US, WE PRAY.

Bless the continuing communion with our partner Anglican Church of Canada, their Bishop in your region, the Roman Catholic Church, their Bishop in your region, and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: North Thompson Ecumenical Shared Ministry in Barriere and Clearwater  and Pastor Brian Krushel and Spirit of Life in Vancouver and Pastor Clifford Reinhardt.

Cradle us in the blanket of your love.  HEAR US, WE PRAY.

Teach us to pray the harder prayers–the petitions that catch in our throats when illness, injury, or hardship become ours. Help us hang on to your promise of healing when it seems impossible. Bless us with valuable learning from the hard times. Hear our petitions for those whose names we say aloud or silently in our hearts.

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Cradle us in the blanket of your love.  HEAR US, WE PRAY.

We stand before you illuminated by your love and commend all our prayers to you through the mystery of the Trinity.

 AMEN.
