Prayers for November 25, 2018 – Christ the King Sunday

With the words “For everything there is a season,” you are invited to respond:

 HEAR US AND BLESS US.

Joined with believers everywhere worshipping on Christ the King Sunday, we pray for the life of the church, the world, and all who yearn for wholeness and spiritual wealth.

A moment of silence

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. Today we celebrate Jesus, king of our faith, king of our future. Move us closer to him in our hearts and minds. Bless pastors, deacons, musicians, teachers, and all who speak your truth.

For everything there is a season:  HEAR US AND BLESS US.

For there is a time to plant, and a time to reap. Bring favourable weather that will protect plants and animals from devastation. Let us take time every day to whisper thanks for food and friends, faith and goodwill, for laughter with those we love.

For everything there is a season:  HEAR US AND BLESS US.

For there is a time to hurt, and a time to heal. Soothe the afflicted, comfort the distressed, console the bereaved, and heal the sick. Make us part of your reaching out to those in need. We pray especially for those we name aloud or in our hearts.

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

For everything there is a season:  HEAR US AND BLESS US.

For there is a time to keep silent and a time to speak with our partner Anglican Church of Canada, Bishop Logan and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the (name Roman Catholic Diocese in your area and Bishop______), for the (name Anglican Diocese in your area and Bishop _________).

For everything there is a season:  HEAR US AND BLESS US.

For there is a time to mourn, and a time to dance. Help us to live fully in the best and worst life throws at us. Make us enjoy the wisdom that comes with facing life together with others, instead of hiding away. For sorrows shared are halved, and joys shared are multiplied.

For everything there is a season:  HEAR US AND BLESS US.

For there is a time to break down, and a time to build up. Give us the wisdom and courage to know what must be released from our hearts, and courage to learn how to listen to you and lift up your presence within us.

For everything there is a season:  HEAR US AND BLESS US.

Turning our hearts toward you, we ask this in Jesus’ name.

AMEN
