Prayers for June 2, 2019 – Seventh Sunday of Easter

Seeking wisdom and wholeness, we pray for all believers, the world, and those in need.

A moment of silence

To the words “Move us beyond fear that keeps us from loving” you are invited to respond “Hear our prayer.”

Make nurturing relationships blossom in our congregation and radiate out from it. In the midst of human connection, one to another, we see the face of God. Teach us to give and receive strength from sharing the best and worst life offers within a community of caring.

Move us beyond fear that keeps us from loving. Hear our prayer.

Transform our moments of awe in rushing waters, mountains hugging snow, and the sounds of bumblebees into passionate care of the earth. Enable us to change our habits, in small ways and in big ways, so that life continues in its abundance and variety.

Move us beyond fear that keeps us from loving. Hear our prayer.

Make human connection and the power of collaboration move political leaders and nations into action that showers more and more people with safety, security, and dignity. Move us away from the prejudices that keep us knowing and understanding others. Heal victims of torture and liberate those wrongly imprisoned or detained.

Move us beyond fear that keeps us from loving. Hear our prayer.

Come, come quickly to the aid of those who suffer. Infuse your calm, loving wisdom into the work of military, prison, hospital, and hospital chaplains—and help them live with the burdens they carry for others. Refresh all those thirsting for hope, healing, and love—especially those we name aloud or silently within our hearts.

(include those listed in the bulletin for prayers)

Move us beyond fear that keeps us from loving. Hear our prayer.

Fill our bodies with a biology of hope through your word. Bless all who teach us faith: pastors and deacons, Sunday school and confirmation teachers, theologians, mentors, curriculum writers and publishers, and everyday saints we encounter day by day.

Move us beyond fear that keeps us from loving. Hear our prayer.

Multiply your love active in the world through our work with Anglican Church of Canada and Bishop (name bishop in your region), the Roman Catholic churches and Bishop (name bishop in your area) and our own Bishop Greg. We offer prayers for the churches of our synod, especially Peace in Abbotsford and Pastor Denise Doerksen and Emmaus in Burnaby and Pastor Timo Saarinen.

Move us beyond fear that keeps us from loving. Hear our prayer.

Remind us always that it is darkest right before the dawn. Let us cradle the certainty that no difficulty or trial lasts forever, that these moments pass—often leaving us with greater wisdom and renewed hope to carry on.

Move us beyond fear that keeps us from loving. Hear our prayer.

Alleluia. Christ has come and we enfold our prayers in the abiding spirit among us. AMEN.
