Prayers for June 16, 2019 – The Holy Trinity

Acknowledging the triune God—author of creation, word of salvation, and spirit of wisdom, we pray for all believers, the world, and those in need.

A moment of silence

To the words “Your glory is chanted above the heavens,” you are invited to respond “We praise you.”

Praise you, Eternal One, for gathering us together, connecting us with one another here in this congregation and in our whole lives on this earth. Unite us with those who seek truth and the relationships that make us whole and holy ones.

Your glory is chanted above the heavens. We praise you.

Praise you, Creative Spark of life, for the wonder of the universe. May we revel in the energy of the sun that energizes us and fosters growth and the moon that oversees times of rest and rejuvenation. Fill our eyes with the beauty of oceans and lakes, deserts and wilderness, and the birds who remain even in our urbanized world.

Your glory is chanted above the heavens. We praise you.

Praise you, spirit of wisdom and reconciliation, for leaders with the courage to listen, collaborate, and pursue justice in a world often motivated by other concerns. Inspire us with the stories of the Nelson Mandelas, the Sister Teresas, the Martin Luther Kings, the Thomas Mertons.

Your glory is chanted above the heavens. We praise you.

Praise to you, healer beyond all others, that you—through us—touch the lives of those who are sick and despairing, those children who need more nurturing than they are receiving, and all of us who need constant support in our quest for mercy and compassion within and among us. We pray especially for those we name aloud or within our hearts.

(include those listed in the bulletin for prayers)

Your glory is chanted above the heavens. We praise you.

Praise you, Father God, for all those who provide fatherly love, care, and guidance. Lead us to remember and celebrate all those who have fathered us and fostered growth and development. May we acknowledge the power of love that has made us who we are.

Your glory is chanted above the heavens. We praise you.

Praise you, God of unity and strength, for our work together with the Anglican Church of Canada and Bishop (name bishop in your region), the Roman Catholic churches and Bishop (name bishop in your area) and our own Bishop Greg. We offer prayers for the churches of our synod, especially Chetwynd Shared Ministry in Chetwynd and Christ Lutheran in Chilliwack and Pastor Dean Andersen.

Your glory is chanted above the heavens. We praise you.

Praise you, God of nurturance and growth, that we can look over our lives yesterday, today, and yes tomorrow and celebrate all those everyday saints, the wounded who yet share with us your glory. Remind us that none of us are self-made, but rather grow and develop in relationship with others.

Your glory is chanted above the heavens. We praise you.

May we dance on and on with the movement of the Trinity, now and forevermore. AMEN.
