As the season of Lent approaches, here are some resources for you and your congregation to use: 

  • Where Two or Three Are Gathered: Worship for Small Assemblies - worship.ca. These resources include an outline for a Service of the Word, an outline for an Ash Wednesday Service, with options for including parts of this service on the First Sunday of Lent, and Weekly Resources for each Sunday. 
  • Older Lenten resources, including Bible studies, etc., are also available from worship.ca 
  • Lutherans Connect provides a daily devotion on each day during Lent, except on Sundays. Devotions will be posted daily to the Lutherans Connect Facebook page. To join the email list, write to lutheransconnect@gmail.com
  • Prepare for Easter with a prayer every day during Lent. Lenten art and prayers in your inbox, prepared by Rev. Bruce Ehlert (Saskatchewan Synod) 
  • True Freedom, a six-week course for Lent, draws on themes from the book of Galatians, and encourages individuals and churches to respond to modern slavery in their communities.   • Lent Reader of reflections and prayers from New Leaf Network on Wednesdays and Sundays. 
  • Seven Weeks for Water Lenten series is published annually by World Council of Churches (WCC). Penned by Bishop Dr. Munib Younan, bishop emeritus of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, the reflection is entitled "Water for peace in the Middle East region."
