(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Lord, in your mercy” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. We cry to you for help, O God, praying at this time for the church, the world and all those who are in need.

A brief silence.

1. We pray…
for all Christians who today raise palms and hear the story of your passion: for humility as we confess you as our Lord and Savior; for our Jewish brothers and sisters who will soon celebrate their Passover.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

2. For a spirit of welcome, as our congregation enters this Holy week; for energye for musicians and pastors, our readers and altar guild and all preparing for the worship services in this coming week. For a renewed desire to serve on the part of all faith communities: in particular for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, our sister congregations in the BC synod: for Living Faith Lutheran church in Sechelt and their new pastor Ian Nestegaard Paul; and for the Lord of Life mission in Sandspit—the leaders and members of that gathering who continue to be a beacon of the gospel in their community.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3. For the leaders of nations and tribes around the globe; for all who enact laws, for all who sit in judgments over others; for all who daily seek to do the right thing.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

4. For wastelands and deep water; for mountain peeks and valley floors; for ancient forests and high plains; for creeping things, swimming things, flying things, and running things; and for our love of your creation.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5. For those who have been deserted and their deserters; for victims of horrendous crimes, and for those who face life sentences; for all grieving the loss of loved ones; for all who care for the dying and the dead; for nurses, hospice workers, family members, coroners and funeral directors; and for those who are will and suffering and who we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time …

May God comfort and sustain all who are suffering. May we be
instruments of healing in this coming week.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6. Holy God, you are with us in our joys and in life’s trials
– we thank you for those who have the gift of another birthday or another
anniversary, and for those who have known the gift of new life.
– we thank for your willingness to go the lonely way of the cross;
– we thank you for opportunities to sing your praise in whatever circumstance of life we face;
– Finally we thank you for those blessings we name aloud at this time….

May we daily recognize your presence in all of life.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7. Finally, we thank you for all the saints who cried “Hosanna” to the Lord in life and who now rest in everlasting light. Bless us with their memory, and sustain us by your Word and their memories. AMEN.
