Resurrection of our Lord

(Click here to download a printable copy)
(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Lord, in your mercy” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. With a new heart and a new life, let us pray for the church, the world, and all those who are in need.

A brief silence.

2. In abundant joy, we pray united this morning at the empty tomb. Feed us today with your Word of hope and of promise. Help us to see you even in those we do not expect, and remove all doubt and fear from our heart.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3. In the mystery of the power of faith we pray for our neighboring religious communtiies, for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for our sister congregations in the BC Synod: in particular for Christ Lutheran Church in Terrace and the pastor serving them and for the St Paul Mission in Barrier and their pastor of the United Church, Graham Brownmiller. May all communities of faith whether they are struggling or thriving be energized by the power of the resurrection.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

4. In hope and love, we pray for the nations of the world. By the light of the resurrection, destroy the shroud of animosity that is cast over many people. Bring peace and security to every country, city, village, and household. Uphold those who risk their lives in the pursuit of justice and security for others.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5. In hope, we pray you would wipe away the tears from all who weep. Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and send your angel to watch over those who are in danger and those who are unwell, especially those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time…

May the spirit of the resurrection comfort and sustain all who are suffering or
in need. And in this coming week, may we be agents of their comfort and
renewed joy.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6. Holy God, you bless us daily with the knowledge of our Lord’s resurrection:
– we thank you for those who have the gift of another birthday or another
anniversary, and for those who have known the gift of new life:
– we thank you for the power of the resurrection which has lessened our times of sorrow and doubled our times of joy;
– Finally we thank you for those blessings we name aloud at this time….
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7. In humility, we pray for this planet, our earthly home. Encourage us to heal what we have scarred and broken so that the face of the earth might be renewed and once again from north to south, and from east to west reflect the glory of God.
Lord, in your mercy:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8. In thanksgiving, we remember those who knew the Lord in their life, and who now see him face to face. May their faithful witness inspire us to sing our Alleluias again and again. Passing from darkness to light, from bondage to freedom, from death to life, we commend to you, gracious and ever-living God, all for whom we pray. AMEN.
