(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Lord, of new life” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. Enlivened by the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray for the life of the church for those in need and for all of God’s creation.

A brief silence.

2. Holy, righteous God, you have given us the gift of your Son. Make us one with him, and empower us to go out into our communities sharing your message of love and of hope.
Lord, of new life:
HEAR OUR PRAYER

3. Lord, you have given us the gift of your church in all its variety. We pray at this time for our neighboring religious communities, for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for our sister congregations in the BC Synod: in particular we pray for Grace Lutheran Church in Victoria and their pastor, Brenda Nestegaard-Paul; for Mount Olive Lutheran Church in White Rock, and their pastor, Peter Hanson; and for all those pastors and volunteers who seek to provide ministry to the imprisoned. Increase the spirit of cooperation among our partners in ministry. Help us to recognize one another’s gifts in living your Gospel message.
Lord, of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

4. You have given us the gift of reconciliation. Help us to use that gift in our homes, our workplaces and in our church. Where there is division or animosity, send your spirit within us to stir up peace and understanding.
Lord, of new life:
HEAR OUR PRAYER

5. You have given us the gift of food in your creation. Bless the labor of farmers and gardeners who till the soil and spread seed. Raise up plants so that no one would go hungry. Reveal to us your majesty in the wonders of life all around us.
Lord, of new life:
HEAR OUR PRAYER

6. You have given us the gift of life. Gather your people into a new day where HI/AIDS, malaria and the plagues of disease and pain are no more. Heal those in our midst who are broken in body, mind or spirit. At this time we pray in particular for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart…

Help us in our ministry this week to replace despair with hope and trust
in your faithfulness.
Lord, of new life:
HEAR OUR PRAYER

7. Lord, you continue to give us the gift of your daily blessings:
– We thank you for those who have the gift of another birthday or another anniversary, and for those who have known the gift of new life:
– We think thank you for calling us out of this world into your new world;
– Finally we thank you for those special blessings we name aloud at this time….

Lord, continue to open our eyes to your presence in our daily life.
Lord, of new life
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8. Remembering the witness of the saints, we look for signs of your glory among us. Open our eyes to see your kingdom breaking into this world until the day when you will fulfill all things.
Lord, of new life:
HEAR OUR PRAYER

9. Trusting in your abundant mercy, O God, we commend ourselves and all for whom we pray into your care, through Jesus Christ our Saviour. AMEN.
