Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost (October 7, 2012)

With the prayer “Spirit of God” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. As disciples of Christ Jesus, called to love and show our care for all people, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.

A brief silence.

2. Holy Trinity, one God, you have joined us together as sisters and brother in Christ. Heal the wounds dividing your church, and make us visible witnesses of your love for the world.

3. God of majesty, you formed every living creature and gave them the breath of life. Sustain us and all things with your powerful word, that we cherish and care for all you have made.

4. Guardian of the weak, you have called us to come to the aid of the powerless and vulnerable. Teach us as sisters and brothers around the globe to value all children, women and men as people created in your image.

5. God of boundless mercy, you know our human pain and suffering. Mend broken relationships, provide companionship for the lonely, drew near to the dying and restore health to the sick. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time …

Anoint all who are in need with your healing presence and our loving acts.

6. Abiding Spirit, help this church and each community of faith to be seen as a places of welcome. We pray that for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for our sister congregations in the BC Synod: in particular we pray for Christ Lutheran Church in Terrace and St Paul Mission in Barriere; Help each member of each faith community to be willing examples of your love.

7. Lord, we thank you for those who are celebrating graduations, marriages and other special events during this season.
– we thank you for those who have the gift of another birthday or another anniversary, and for those who have known the gift of new life:
– we thank you for children and those who care for them;
– Finally we thank you for those special blessings we name aloud at this time….

May we see your presence in the friendship and care of others.

8. God of our ancestors, we praise you for the prophets who has spoken your word to us. Keep us in union with them as we are one with them in the kingdom of God.

9. Hear our prayers, faithful God, and renew us by your Spirit that we may joyfully love and serve you and your church.
