(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Spirit of God” you are invited to respond…

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1.     As disciples of Christ Jesus, called to love and show our care for all people, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.

A brief silence.

2.     Good Teacher, your word is living and active in the church.  By your Spirit give us the will to leave behind those things that hold us back from following you and loving others.

Spirit of God:

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3.     God, our true treasure, help us cherish your gift of creation and be good stewards of all you provide.

Spirit of God:

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

4.     God of hosts, you demand justice and hate oppression.  Give the world honest leaders who speak the truth, uphold the rights of the poor, and work with courage for the good of all.

Spirit of God:

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5.     Gracious God, with boldness we pray for those who suffer adversity, addiction, alienation or illness,  especially those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time.

Continue to anoint all who are in need with your healing presence and our

           loving acts.

Spirit of God:  HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6.     Abiding Spirit, help this church and each community of faith to be seen as a places of welcome.  We pray that for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for our sister congregations in the BC Synod: in particular we pray for Spirit of Life Lutheran Church in Vancouver and their pastor Clifford Reinhardt; Dunbar Lutheran church in Vancouver and their pastor Thomas Keeley and for our Synod Bishop, Greg, and the Synod staff. Help all servants of the church to be joyful  examples of your love.

Spirit of God:

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7.     Lord, we thank you for those who are celebrating graduations, marriages and other special events during this season.

we thank you for those who have the gift of another birthday or another anniversary, and for those who have known the gift of new life:

         we thank you for those who call us to live lives of true discipleship;

Finally we thank you for those special blessings we name aloud at this time….

May we see your presence in the friendship and care of others.

           Spirit of God:

           HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8.     Son of God, our great High Priest, direct the spiritual life of this and all communities of faith, that they would continually seek you in prayer, praise and service.

Spirit of God:

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

9.     Hear our prayers, faithful God, and renew us by your Spirit that we may joyfully love and serve you and our communities.  AMEN.Thanksgiving for Recovery from Illness
