(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Spirit of God” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. As disciples of Christ Jesus, called to live a life of courage and of commitment, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.

A brief silence.

2. Almighty and ever living God, gather your church from the ends of the earth and give it clarity of purpose to follow you faithfully on the way.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3. God of freedom, make this congregation a place of forgiveness and rebirth that it may be a light that shines even in the midst of darkness.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

4. Spirit of God, empower all communities of faith that they may witness to the truth that liberates from all that would imprison people with doubt, anger and despair. We pray for our partner Anglican Church of Canada along with our sister congregations in the BC Synod: in particular we pray for Oakridge Lutheran Church in Vancouver and the pastors serve them; for Redeemer Lutheran Church in Vancouver and their pastor John Gram; and we pray for the pastors, the volunteers and the students who seek to provide the light of the Gospel on the various campuses in our nation.. Help all communities of faith to be confident that their work is not in vain.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5. God of peace bring an end to conflict and wars around the world, shatter the fear we have of people different from us and those we have difficulty of liking. Break down that which separates us from you and one another.
Spirit of God
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6. God of grace, quiet the fear and anxiety of those in need and those who daily care for their loved ones. Sustain those who are unemployed, the homeless, the persecuted, those weighed down by regret and all who are ill and suffering, especially those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time.

Remind all that you are their refuge and strength.
Spirit of God
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7. Lord, we thank you for our many blessings: we thank you for those who are celebrating graduations, marriages and other special events during this season.
– we thank you for those who have the gift of another birthday or another anniversary, and for those who have known the gift of new life:
– we thank you for those who give us hope when we are discouraged
– we thank you for those you have sent to us who need encouragement and hope;
– Finally we thank you for those special blessings we name aloud at this time….

May all experience your presence in daily life.

9. Eternal and powerful Word of life, we give thanks for the apostles and reformers of old who had the courage to call your church and the world to rebirth and service. Keep us steadfast in your word until we join them around your throne of grace.

10. Hear our prayers faithful God and renew us by your spirit, that we may joyfully love and serve you and one another through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.
