(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Spirit of God” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. Filled with expectation and with longing, let us pray for the church, those in need, and for all of God’s creation.

A brief silence.

2. Stir up your power, Lord Jesus and come. Come to your church around the globe, to our neighbors in other faith communities and to all who long to hear your voice.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3. Stir up your power, Lord Jesus and come. Come to this assembly, to our partner Anglican Church of Canada and to the congregations and ministries in this BC Synod. We pray in particular for Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Comox and their pastor, Ron Sedo, and for the students and staff of our seminaries in Saskatoon and Waterloo in their ministry to the church.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER

4. Stir up your power, Lord Jesus, and come. Come to the visitors among us, to all members who cannot be here; and for all those who find this season difficult. Come with your holy angels and protect those traveling and those who are far from their families.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5. Stir up your power, Lord Christ, and come. Come to victims of violence and torture, for children orphaned by disease, famine or accidents; to families struggling with survival and with brokenness, for those who are unwell and in pain, especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time.

Sustain us in this coming week as we seek to serve you and one another.
Spirit of God:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6. Loving God, we thank you for this Advent season of promise. We thank you for those who are celebrating special events during this season.
– we thank you for those who have the gift of another birthday or another anniversary
– we thank you for the joy and expectation of this season;
– We thank you for those who befriend us with understanding when we don’t experience the joy of this season;
– Finally we thank you for those special blessings we name aloud at this time….

Continue to help us see your presence in the joy and sorrows of life.
Spirit of God:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7. Stir up your power, Lord Christ, and come. Come with healing to your wounded creation, to our farmlands and wetlands, to our cities, villages and rural areas, to our domestic and the wild animals.
Spirit of God:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8. Lord, you came to Mary and she sang her hymn of praise. With Mary we magnify you and we bless you for those who nurtured us in the faith. Keep us in communion with the saints who have gone before us until we also find rest in you.
Spirit of God:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

9. Hear the prayers of your people, O God, and in your mercy grant us all we need, for the sake of your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.
