(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Spirit of God” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. Called by the Holy Spirit into a life of worship and service, we pray for the church, all in need and the whole creation.

A brief moment of silence and reflection

1. Through the ages, O God, your church has taken refuge in your loving care. In our time, O God, rescue those who call upon you, especially those who despite threats and despite the discouragement of friends, still choose to worship and follow you.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

2. Call the leaders of the world’s nations to heed your call to be just and merciful, and to walk in your ways. Inspire this congregation and its members to act and speak out against injustice and discrimination. Call us, O God, to be a fortress for your people.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3. Generous God, you pour out your gifts on each individual and each community of faith. Inspire us to recognize our gifts and our individual calling to serve our church, our community and one another. We pray your blessing on our partner Anglican Church of Canada and our neighboring faith communities. We pray for our Synodical congregations: in particular for Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Langley and their pastors Bradford Senften and Kristen Steele; and for Hope Lutheran Shared Ministry in Mackenzie, and their Anglican pastor, Henry Dunbar. May all your servants know strength and joy in their ministry.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

4. Gracious God, comfort the grieving and the lonely, and give healing to those who are ill or in pain, especially those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time …

Help us always to be open to your call to care for one another
Spirit of God:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5. God, the giver of every good gift, we thank you for all your special blessings:
– we thank you those who have the gift of another birthday or another anniversary;
– We thank you for the many who have heard and accepted your call to serve your church and their community;
– We thank you for calling and empowering us to be your servants;
– We thank you for those special blessings we name aloud at this time….

Help us to recognize your presence and our daily calling.
Spirit of God: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6. Let your whole creation praise you, O God. Lead us in our work of protecting and restoring the earth to the goodness that you created.
Spirit of God:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7. Sustain us, O God, until we gather with all your people from every time and every place into your eternal presence.
Spirit of God:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8. Into your loving hand, gracious God, we place ourselves and all our prayers, spoken and
unspoken, trusting in your love through Jesus Christ, our Savior. AMEN
