(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Hear us, O God” you are invited to respond…

YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

  1. 1.      Returning to the Lord with all our heart, let us pray for the earth, for the whole people of God, and for all who cry out for renewal of their faith and love.

A brief moment of silence and reflection

  1. 2.      We pray that those preparing for baptism and all seeking renewed faith that God would lead them through the wilderness to the river of life.

Hear us, O God:  YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

  1. 3.      We pray for this congregation and for all communities of faith that together we may be known as places of forgiveness, acceptance and example.  And we pray that the new Bishop elected by the Church at Rome would be a blessing to the church and to the world. We pray also for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for the congregations in the BC Synod: Faith Lutheran church in Powell River and their pastor, Carol Dennison; and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Prince George, and their pastor, Fleming Blishen. May all of God’s servants in the Holy Catholic Church be guided and strengthened by the Spirit of God.

            Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

  1. 4.      We pray that those nations experiencing turmoil would go beyond their memories of grievance and anger into springs of justice and rivers of peace.

Hear us, O God:  YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

  1. 5.      We pray that you would pour out your extravagant grace on the poor, the unemployed, and all who suffer deteriorating health or the loss of purpose.  We pray in particular for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time …

           May all who are in any kind of need be embraced by your compassion and our deeds

           and words of care.

          Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

  1. 6.      God, the giver of every good gift, we thank you for all your special blessings:

–          we thank you  those who have the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or for the gift of new life;

–          We thank you for opportunities to show our gratitude for your blessings;

–          Finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

May we value that which is of surpassing worth, as we behold the new things you are doing in our midst.

          Hear us, O God:  YOUR MERCY

  1. 7.      We pray that all your people would choose to serve your creation by honoring plants and animals, rivers and seas, wilderness and desert.

           Hear us, O God:  YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

  1. 8.      We give thanks for all who lived and died in your costly grace especially Patrick bishop and missionary to Ireland.  Guide us on our Lenten journey, until we reach the resurrection feast.

Hear us, O God:  YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

  1. 9.      Hear us according to your steadfast love, O God, and in your great compassion bring us to resurrection and rebirth.  AMEN
