(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Hear us, O God” you are invited to respond…
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

1. Rejoicing with all the witnesses of the resurrection past and present, let us pray in confidence for the church, the world and all who are in need.

A brief moment of silence and reflection

2. Open our eyes to see the daily presence of Christ in our midst. Open our hearts to receive our Lord’s daily forgiveness, grace and hope. Open our mouths daily to share the blessings of our living Lord.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

3. Give each congregation and each member the eyes of faith to recognize your leading in their individual journeys. We pray this for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for the congregations in the BC Synod: in particular this Sunday we pray for Spirit of Life Lutheran Church in Vancouver and their pastor, Cliff Reinhardt; for Dunbar Lutheran church and their pastor, Thomas Keeley. And we pray for our Bishop Greg and his family, and for the secretarial ministries of Rachel Genge and Kimberly Bortnak. May all be filled with gratitude for your leading in their lives of service.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

4. Break the bonds of oppression and the cycles of violence in the many lands knowing daily suffering. Grant wisdom, humility and courage to all in positions of authority so that they would be actual advocates for all who have no voice. For those who work for peace, protect them from discouragement and despair.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

5. Protect the oceans, lakes and waterways of your creation. Help us to be intentional in maintaining and protecting our beaches and coastlands.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

6. Bless all who cry to you. Give shelter to those who continue to have no shelter. Comfort the lonely and discouraged. Give relief to those who are in pain and who are unwell. Give your healing touch to those who at this time, we name aloud o quietly in our heart…

Through our lives, grant companionship and hope to all who are in any kind of need.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
7. God, the giver of all good things
– we thank you those who have the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or for the gift of new life;
– We thank you for sustaining us when we are unsure where we are being led;
– we thank you for the marvellous stories of the people of God in the Holy Scriptures;
– Finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
May we continue to know you as our personal Lord and Saviour.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT

8. Bless all who mourn and grant us courage and faith to see life even in the mists of death
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

9. In resurrection hope we commend to you all for whom we pray trusting in the promise of new life; through Jesus Christ, our risen Savior. AMEN
