(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “Hear us, O God” you are invited to respond…
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

1. Filled with the promise of the Holy Spirit, let us pray in confidence for the church, the world, and all who are in need.

A brief moment of silence and reflection

2. Pour out your Spirit upon the members of this congregation and all communities of faith that in their church, their families and their communities they would keep your commandment to love one another as you have loved us. We pray for that gift of love on our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for the congregations in the BC Synod: in particular for Grace Lutheran Church in Victoria and their pastor, Brenda Nestegaard Paul; for Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Surrey and their pastor, Peter Hanson; and for all pastors and laypeople who choose to work in prison ministries. May all know the joy of serving in your name.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

3. Pour out your Spirit upon the nations, its leaders, judges, peacekeepers and all citizens that together they may stand as bulwarks against oppression, hatred and greed.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

4. Pour out your Spirit upon the face of the ground, the water and the air that they may be protected and renewed so that all may enjoy and be nourished by the abundance of resources entrusted to our care.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

5. Pour out your Spirit upon those who suffer that they may know the healing power of your presence. We pray in particular for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time…

Empower us so that we never tire in caring for one another.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

6. God, the giver of all good things
– we thank you those who have the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the gift of spiritual rebirth;
– We thank you for the gift of your Spirit that calls us into a life of faith and service;
– We thank you for the gift of your Spirit we experience in music, scripture, the sermon and our pastors;
– Finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

7. Pour out your sustaining Spirit upon those who grieve that your promise to be with them in life and in death may lead them to know daily the joy of their salvation.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.

8. In resurrection hope we commend to you all for whom we pray, trusting in the promise of new life; through Jesus Christ, our risen Savior. AMEN
