(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “God in your great compassion” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. Rejoicing in the good news of God who has chosen to come near, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s Creation.

A brief moment of silence and reflection

2. O God, we pray for the church with its great failings and in its many acts of love. May all members choose to show forth their love for you and your church.

3. We pray for this congregation, its pastors, its leaders and its mission to this community. At this time, we also pray for our partner Anglican Church of Canada—its pastors, its leaders and its mission. And we pray for the congregations in the BC Synod: in particular we pray for Chetwynd Shared Ministry in Cheywynd and their Presbyterian pastor, Marlene Peck; and for Christ Lutheran Church in Chilliwack, their leaders and their pastor, Dean Anderson. Keep each of us faithful to your call and give us grace to be the presence of Jesus to each other and to our communities.

4. We pray on this day our thankfulness for fathers and grandfathers, godfathers and uncles—for all who choose to love and nurture children. Bless them in their shared vocations to show children they are loved and they are understood.

5. We pray for the whole human family, created in your image and yet divided by race and class, gender and creed. Gather us around your table of mercy. Forgive us our sins against each other. Heal our divisions and where divisions persist, empower us to work together so that our communities will know security and care.

6. We pray for all who are bowed down by pain or by worry; for those who are abused by deeds or by words, for the frightened and those who feel neglected. We pray at this time especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart…

Lead and empower us in this coming week to be agents of your healing presence.

7. God, the giver of all good things
– we thank you for all who have shown us the love of our heavenly father;
– we thank you for the many opportunities you give us to live a life of gratitude;
– and we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the gift of spiritual rebirth …

– Finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

8. We pray for the earth and all its creatures, for wilderness and farmland, for cities, towns and villages, for oceans, lakes and streams. Give us wisdom and the will to live well so that the beauty of this land would be protected.

9. We give you thanks for all who have gone before us and now find their rest in you. Hold us in your mercy, until we are reunited in your great love through Jesus Christ our Lord.
