With the prayer “God in your great compassion” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. Rejoicing in the good news of God who has chosen to come near, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s Creation.

A brief moment of silence and reflection

2. Let us pray for the church around the world that in every place it may live out the gospel of forgiveness and faithful service.
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER

3. Let us pray for this congregation, our pastor, and all our members who seek to live out in their daily lives, the gospel of forgiveness and faithful service. At this time, we pray also for our partner Anglican Church of Canada—its pastors, its leaders and its gospel mission. And we pray for the congregations in the BC Synod: in particular we pray for Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Comox, their people, and their interim pastor as they seek to find a place to meet for Sunday worship. And we pray for our Seminaries in Saskatoon and in Waterloo, their faculties and their students as they seek to prepare ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Keep each of us faithful in our daily lives to that Gospel.

4. Let us pray for the people of the earth, that where there is oppression and suffering, your Spirit would raise up leaders and servants who would offer their gifts of courage and skill so that people everywhere would know healing, security and hope.

5. Let us pray for those who suffer, that the sick may know God’s healing, the tormented may know God’s peace and the discouraged may know God’s strength. We pray in particular at this time for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart ….

Lead and empower us in this coming week to be agents of your healing presence.
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6. God, the giver of all good things
– we thank you for your Word which challenges our actions and our failure to act;
– we thank you for examples we have known of miraculous healing and miraculous acts of faithfulness;
– and we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the gift of spiritual rebirth …

– Finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

7. Let us pray for our home–this earth–beautiful beyond words and yet everywhere threatened with neglect. We pray for its renewed health, and for our daily faithfulness in caring for this home.

8. Let us give thanks to God for all the saints past and present, whose lives have enriched us and who have proclaimed God’s faithfulness even beyond the grave.

9. Into your hands, O God of compassion, we commend all for whom we pray trusting in your great mercy; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. AMEN.
