Seventh Sunday after Pentecost (July 14, 2013)

(Click here to download a copy of the prayers)

(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “God in your great compassion” you are invited to respond… HEAR OUR PRAYER.

1. Confident in God’s compassionate rule and enduring love, let us lift up the needs of the church, the world, and all of creation.

A brief moment of silence and reflection

2. Motivate our church and our partner Anglican Church of Canada to be bold in their proclamation of God’s grace and love to the world. We pray in particular at this time for the congregations of the BC Synod: for Christ Lutheran Church in Kelowna and their pastor, Patricia Giannelia; and for St Peter’s Shared ministry in Hudson’s Hope and their pastor, Fay Lavallee. May all communities of faith be known for their hospitality to the neighbor.

God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER

3. Empower and protect all those throughout the world who witness to the gospel. May their courage bear fruit so that others may know your grace.

4. Watch over all that is vulnerable and weak in this world: those experiencing the beginning of new life; those experiencing frail bodies and fading strength; those who are unwell, anxious or in constant pain. We pray in particular for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time. .. Help all to experience your presence through all of life’s seasons.

God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER

5. Incline your ear to the voiceless and powerless, to refugees and victims of terror. Bring a new birth of compassion to the hearts of those in power.

God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER

6. God, you are the giver of all good things – we thank you for reminding us to care for our neighbour close at hand and farther away; – we thank you for your assurance that you are always close to us with your love; – and we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the gift of new life … – Finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7. Give us patience with each other as we work together extending your mercy to our neighborhoods through our various ministries.

God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER

8. God of mercy, hear the cries of your people, and answer us according to your steadfast love; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. AMEN
