(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)
With the prayer “God in your great compassion” you are invited to respond…
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
1. Confident in God’s enduring love, let us lift up the needs of the church, the world, and all of creation.
A brief moment of silence and reflection
2. Unite your people with the love of Christ, and give them confidence and persistence as they work to fulfill your purposes in the church and throughout the world.
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
3. We pray your blessing on the ministries of our church, our partner Anglican Church of Canada and all communities of faith. In particular at this time we pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: for Faith Lutheran Church in Kelowna and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in North Vancouver along with the pastors and the congregational leaders who continue to ensure a Christian ministry in their communities. May all members of all faith communities serve you with glad and willing hearts.
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
4. God, watch over and protect from injury farmers, firefighters, lifeguards, construction workers, police officers and all who work to protect and provide for us.
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
5. Bless the earth with favorable weather, and encourage our efforts to join your creative work in raising plants and animals, flowers and fruit for the benefit of all.
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
6. Open our hearts to those who are lost and seeking meaning in their lives. Help us to be caring and generous with our time in offering those who are in need of patience our understanding. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly at this time …
Help all to experience your reassuring presence through all of life’s seasons.
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
7. God, you are the giver of all good things
– we thank you for the gift of your forgiveness;
– we thank you for those who have forgiven us and those we have chosen to forgive;
– and we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the
gift of new life …
– Finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
8. We praise you for the lives of your saints who have blessed us with their music. Renew in us our appreciation for the gifts of all artists and musicians past and present who have given us a taste of heaven even in this life. Bring us at the last to your eternal heavenly kingdom.
God, in your great compassion: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
9. God of mercy, hear the cries of your people and answer us according to your steadfast love; through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. AMEN
