With the prayer “Hear us, O God” you are invited to respond
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
1. With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.
A brief moment of silence and reflection
2. As we remember the saints of old who with their courage and with their faith passed on to us the gospel, we pray that all communities of faith and all members would be known for their courage and their faithfulness. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, and for the churches of our BC Synod: especially we pray for Peace Lutheran Church in Vernon and their pastor, Richard Schulz; and for St Peter’s Estonian Lutheran church in Vancouver and the pastors and leaders providing ministry in their community. Bless all members and all faith communities with an abundance of willing and dedicated servants.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
3. We pray for your blessings on this assembly that it would continue to dream dreams, sing new songs and be a sign of your living presence to each other and to their community.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
4. We pray that as citizens of our respective countries, we would personally urge our leaders to be humble and willing servants to all people, particular to those who have no voice.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
5. We pray for your presence with the dying, your compassion to those who grieve and your healing touch to those who are in need of care, especially for those at this time we name aloud are quietly….
In this coming week may the light of your care shine through us in all that we do or say.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
6. God, you are the giver of all good things:
– we thank you for the saints of old and for the precious memories of our loved ones;
– we thank you for your amazing call to us to be your representatives on earth.
– we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the gift of
new life;
– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT
7. We pray for the care of the earth and all that is in it, for the renewal of farmland that lies fallow, and for the new life that you continue to bring forth. Help us in our actions and in our words to be examples to our children of our care for the earth.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
8. As we remember in thanksgiving the memories of those whose lives have been precious to us, keep us in loving communion with them until that day when we are gathered together with them and with all your saints around your throne in your holy city.
Hear us, O God:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
9. Into your hands, O Holy One, we entrust all for whom we pray, confident in your abundant and abiding mercy; through Jesus Christ our Savior. AMEN.
