(Click here to download a copy of the prayers)
(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)
With the prayer “Together we pray” you are invited to respond
COME, LORD JESUS
1. In this season of hope and anticipation, we pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.
A brief moment of silence and reflection
2. In this Advent season, stir up in our hearts an eagerness for your coming into our world and into our hearts. Grant us patience in our waiting, and while we wait, strengthen us to persevere and not lose hope.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
3. We pray this morning for your faithful flock throughout the world. We pray for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, for our neighboring faith communities, and for the congregations of the BC Synod: In particular we pray for Christ Lutheran Church in Chilliwack and their pastor, Dean Anderson, and for Chetwynd Shared ministry in Chetwynd–their leaders and pastors providing ministry in that community. May all communities of faith be places of healing and of hope.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
4. Draw near to all who are oppressed or neglected. Strengthen those who are made weak by the heavy burdens that they carry. May your Spirit sustain all who know the burdens of pain, illness or uncertainty. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart at this time…
With your promises and our care, fulfill the expectations of all who seek you in this season and in this
place.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
5. God, you are the giver of all good things:
– we thank you for those who have pointed us to our Lord for forgiveness and opportunities to serve;
– we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the gift
of new life;
– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS
5. In this season, nurture dry and dormant lands so that they will blossom and once more bring forth crocuses. Motivate us to share our abundance so that no one goes hungry.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
6. Remembering the Saints who have entered into your eternal reign, sustain us through their witness to your everlasting faithfulness until we are united in the fullness of your kingdom
Together we pray: COME, LORD JESUS.
7. You have gathered the saints into your holy and eternal presence. Make us steadfast in the faith until we are made one with them and in your new creation.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
Almighty God, we entrust to you all for whom we pray confident that you fulfill your promises through Christ our Savior and Lord. AMEN
