With the prayer “Together we pray” you are invited to respond
COME, LORD JESUS
1. Guided by the light of Christ who has been made known to the nations, we offer our prayers for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.
A brief moment of silence and reflection
2. As we prepare to celebrate the epiphany of our Lord, we pray for the church throughout the world and all servants of the gospel that together we would reflect the mystery of God’s love. We pray for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, for our neighboring faith communities, and for the congregations of the BC Synod: in particular we pray for Benediction Lutheran Church in Delta and their interim pastor, David Lefsrud; and for Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta and their pastor, Jennifer Wilson. May all communities of faith be instruments of hope to their communities in this coming year.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
3. We pray for the members of the body of Christ in this place, for those returning to school from break, and those returning from their holiday travels, that they may see new opportunities to celebrate, to serve and to learn.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
4. We pray for all nations of the world, their rulers and authorities, places torn apart by war and strife that there may be peace and security or all. May new people young and old hear and respond to your call to serve as peacemakers in places that know only despair.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
5. We pray for the sick and those who care for them, prisoners and those who guard them, victims of oppression and violence and those who oppress. We pray for those who serve them as advocates and those who have no helpers that God’s all sufficient grace may turn darkness into light. At this time we pray in particular for those we name ….
Radiant God, hear the prayers of your people, spoken or silent, for the sake of the one who has made his
dwelling among us, your Son, Jesus Christ our Savior
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
6. God, you are the giver of gifts in the past and promises for the future:
– We thank you for reaching out to us with your revelation of forgiveness and hope;
– we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the gift of new life;
– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS
7. We pray for all plants and animals, seas and skies, snow and rain, and all natural resources that all creation may grow and thrive. Send sun and rain, warmth and coolness in due measure to draw forth your bounty from the earth for the benefit of all. Empower us to be diligent in our care for the earth.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
8. We pray in thanksgiving for the faithful departed that their witness and their precious memories inspire us to leave a legacy behind of our faith, our love of the church and our care for others.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
9. Almighty God, we entrust to you all for whom we pray confident that you fulfill your promises through Christ our Savior and Lord. AMEN
