With the prayer “Together we pray” you are invited to respond
COME, LORD JESUS
1. Guided by the light of Christ who has been made known to the nations, we offer our prayers for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.
A brief moment of silence and reflection
2. God you have blessed us with your commandments and you have blessed us with your promise of forgiveness and new life. Call your church to share the mystery of your grace with a broken and searching world. We pray in particular for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, for our neighboring faith communities, and for the congregations of the BC Synod: in particular we pray for Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Surrey and their pastor, Henry Guo; and Hope Lutheran Church in Nanaimo and their pastor, Terry Richardson. Show your people the way to live a life that is pleasing to you.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
3. By the mysterious power of your Spirit move the leaders of the world to put aside jealousy and quarrelling so that there might be peace and security for all.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
4. Help families to be reconciled with each other in this life. Give healing to all who mourn or in pain. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly at this time …..
May our lives in this coming week reflect our confidence in your presence.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
5. God, you are the giver of gifts in the past and in the present:
– we thank you for revealing to us your will;
– we thank you for encouraging us to accept each other in all our diversity;
– we thank you for those celebrating significant events in their lives …
– for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the
gift of new life;
– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
Help us to see your presence in our daily lives.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
6. You give growth to all living things. Provide snow and rain in their season. Sustain and protect all who plant and till the earth so that all may be fed.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
7. Holy Spirit, comfort and sustain us until we gather with all the saints around the throne of God singing your praise.
Together we pray:
COME, LORD JESUS.
8. Radiant God, hear the prayers of your people, spoken or silent, for the sake of the one who has made his dwelling among us, your Son, Jesus Christ our Saviour. AMEN
