(Click here to download a copy of the prayers)

The following prayers have been adapted for congregational use by Rev. Gerald Mitchinson.

(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “God of new life” you are invited to respond

  1.  Made alive in Christ, sustained and led by His Spirit, let us pray for the church, the world, and all of God’s creation.

             A brief silence.

  1. We pray for the church that reborn as children of God, we would continue to recognize Christ’s presence moving within and within our church.   At this time, we pray in particular for our neighboring faith communities; for our partner Anglican Church of Canada; for Grace Lutheran church in Victoria and their interim minister, Jim Hill; and for Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Surrey and their pastor, Peter Hanson. Continue to bless the ministries of all congregations and all faith communities here and abroad.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. God our salvation:   you have made us your living stones in the waters of baptism. We pray for the church and its leaders; for the newly baptized; and for missionaries around the world.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. God our spiritual home:   your spirit dwells within creation.   We pray for the earth; for clean water and air; for the earth’s foundation, and for the lands which all creatures inhabit. Keep us ever mindful of our responsibility to the earth

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. God our way; you call us to paths of justice and mercy. We pray for reconciliation between peoples, for the gift of wise and courageous leaders, and for courts and legislatures that all would seek to be just and merciful.

God of new life:   HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. God our refuge:   you care for us in times of trouble.   We pray for the forgotten; for neglected infants and children; for those who are worried or unwell, especially those at this time we name quietly or aloud …

Sustain all with your presence and in this coming week with our caring ministry

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. God, you are the giver of life and renewed life;

– we thank you for assuring us we too can do mighty works in our daily ministry;

– .we thank you for those celebrating significant events in their lives;

– For those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the

gift of new life;

– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

Help us to recognize the mystery of your presence in our daily life.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. God our shelter; you seek to draw all people to yourself. We pray for those who are homeless especially after natural disasters, for those lacking adequate housing; and for all who come to this building seeking a safe and welcome haven.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. God our life:   you have prepared a place for us.   We give thanks for the witness and the memories of saints in the past and in the present who have encouraged us with their faith and their devotion to our Lord and the Church. God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER
  2. Receive our prayers, merciful God, and continue to dwell in us richly, through Jesus Christ, our life and our redeemer. AMEN
