(Click here to download a copy of the prayers)

The following prayers have been adapted for congregational use by Rev. Gerald Mitchinson

(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “God of new life” you are invited to respond

  1.  Made alive in Christ, sustained and led by His Spirit, let us pray for the church, for the world, and for all of God’s creation.

             A brief silence.

  1. Your Spirit gathers, empowers and leads the church. We pray for all communities of faith that they would be open to the leading of your Spirit in their midst. We pray for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for all the congregations in our BC Synod: in particular we pray for Grace Lutheran Church in Burnaby and their pastor, Nathan Fong; and for Mount Zion Lutheran in Smithers, Pastor Jim Whalley and others who provide ministry in that community. May the Spirit of a gracious God give all faith communities and all their members wisdom and joy in their daily ministry.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. Your Spirit energizes this faith community, its leaders and all its members. Spur young and old alike to use their creative talents to serve their congregation and their community.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. Your Spirit seeks to enlighten the nations—its leaders in this and every nation. May your power free all those who are held captive by greed, hatred and blindness.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. Your Spirit revives body and soul. In your mercy, sooth the afflicted, uplift the sorrowful, comfort the grieving and heal those who are unwell, especially those we name quietly or aloud at this time.

May our words and our actions give encouragement to all we encounter in this coming week.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. God, you are the giver of life and renewed life;

– we thank you for the gift of your Spirit which calls us daily to serve the church, our families and our community;

– we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the

gift of new life;

– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

Help us to recognize the guidance of your Spirit in our daily life.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. Your Spirit animates the creation.   Fill us with daily wonder for your handiwork and a joy in being your partner in restoring and protecting the land, the skies and the waters.

God of new life:   HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. Your Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. Baptized in his name help us to trust the Spirit’s power to keep us close to you now and with all the saints in the life to come.

God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. Receive our prayers, merciful God, and continue to dwell in us richly, through Jesus Christ, our life and our redeemer. AMEN
