With the prayer “God of new life” you are invited to respond
HEAR OUR PRAYER

1. Strengthened and led by the Spirit, let us bring our hopes, our dreams and our needs to our gracious God.

A brief silence.
2. Fill your church with members who are bold in their work for justice, their serving with compassion and in their sharing the good news through their words and their actions.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3. Through the years your Spirit has gathered, empowered and sustained your church.. We pray in thanksgiving for the ministry of our neighboring faith communities, for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for all the congregations in our BC Synod: in particular we pray for the Coqutlam congregations of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and their pastor, Eric Krushel; and for King of Life Lutheran Church and their pastor, Kathy Martin. Continue to call individuals in all faith communities into a life of service within the church and within their community and beyond their community.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

4. Pour out your spirit on those who are without access to fresh water. And pour out your spirit in us to support those in the ministry of digging wells providing people with refreshing water.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5. Stir in the hearts of those who thirst for justice that they would continue to speak out against oppression. Protect and preserve the lives of those who advocate for the weak.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6. Make families everywhere to be places of safety, encouragement and love. Protect and uphold healthy relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, partners and friends.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7. Wherever there is brokenness, bring healing. Bind up our wounds, and dry our tears
especially for those we name aloud or quietly at this time …

In this coming week may we surround them with our care and love
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8. God, we thank you for the power or your Word;
– We thank you for freeing us to be your servants in our homes, our work and our neighborhood.
– we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the
gift of new life;
– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

Help us to experience daily the power of your love.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Thank you for those who through their words and their deeds have encouraged us in a life of faith and love. May we in our daily life do likewise with our family and our friends.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

And on the eve of Canada Day, we pray for our nation that, in the words of the psalmist, we would head the call of the poor, those who are weak and those who have no helper. Fill our people and our leaders with the power of compassion.

– we thank you for the gift of our people in all their diversity

9. We lift our prayers to you, God of mercy, confident that all things are in your hands. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.
