HEAR OUR PRAYER
- Strengthened and led by the Spirit, let us bring our hopes, our dreams and our needs to our gracious God.
A brief silence.
- Merciful God, you have given us your holy Word to guide, correct, teach and inspire us. Draw us into your story, and give us understanding and obedient hearts as we seek to follow in the steps of your son, Jesus.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
- We pray for this congregation, for our neighboring communities of faith; for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for the congregations of our BC Synod;in particular we pray for St. Peter’s Shared ministry in Hudson’s Hope; and for Christ Lutheran Church in Kelowna and their pastor, Patricia Giannelia. Continue to raise up leaders and workers for your church. At this time we lift up our Bishop Greg, the Synod staff, the Synod Council and all the synod committees. We thank for their willingness to give of their time to serve the church. And we thank you the ministry of Lutheran World Relief and the Lutheran World Federation as together they too seek to live out their callings to serve the church and their communities here and abroad.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
- Where there is war and violence give us leaders who continue to work for peace: May the leaders and the people of all nations put down their weapons and be willing to risk their lives in the pursuit of peace and reconciliation.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
- We live in a land of plenty, and still there are those without enough to eat. Give us generous hearts to meet the needs of the hungry in our community and beyond our community. Bless and protect the lives of those who work so that others might have their “daily bread.”
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
- Give strength to those bearing heavy burdens: with addictions, temptations, mental illness, loneliness or grief. Give strength to them and to their care givers. Heal those whose bodies and souls are hurting, especially those we name quietly or aloud at this time …
Give us hearts of compassion in our individual ministry in this coming week.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
7. God, we thank you for the blessings we have experienced in the past and those we continue to experience:
– we thank you for the assurance that your Word has the power to comfort and to change lives;
– we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the
gift of new life;
– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
May our words and our actions give encouragement to all we encounter in this coming week.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
- Bless the memory of those who now worship at your eternal throne and bless us who worship in the hopeful expectation of your eternal kingdom.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
- We lift our prayers to you, God of mercy, confident that all things are in your hands. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.
