(Click here to download a copy of the prayers)

The following prayers have been adapted for congregational use by Rev. Gerald Mitchinson.

(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)

With the prayer “God of new life” you are invited to respond

1. Filled by your spirit let us join the whole people of God in Christ Jesus as together we pray for the church, those in need and for all of God’s creation.

A brief silence.

2. Lord of the harvest, sow the seeds of your Word throughout the world that all your children would know the miracle of your love.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER

3. Teach your way O Lord to our congregation. Help us walk in your truth, grow together in your Word, mirror your patience and sing your praises with undivided hearts. We pray also for our neighboring faith communities, for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for the congregations of our BC Synod: in particular we pray for Hills of Peace Lutheran Church in Kamloops and their new pastor, Jane Gingrich, and our partners in the world’s mission field, Yoli Zavaleta and Andrea Baez in Peru.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER

4. Lord of all nations, guide and prod our leaders to make decisions for the peace of their people and their neighbors. Give them courage to search for common ground as they relate to their neighbors who they have come to see as their enemy.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER

5. Send the summer winds to bring rain where it is needed; and drying winds where there is devastating flooding. Bring the wind of your Spirit to lead us to care and advocate for the health of the land and your people.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER

6. Listen to the cries of your people who are waiting for the healing of body, mind or spirit. We pray especially for those we name quietly or aloud at this time ….

Give us hearts of compassion in our individual ministry in this coming week.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER

7. God, we thank you for how you continue to surprise us with your blessings:
– we thank you for teaching us patience as we wait for change in our lives and in the lives of others;
– we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the
gift of new life;
– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

May our words and our actions give encouragement to all we encounter in this coming week.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8. Lord of hosts, you are the first and the last, gathering all those who have gone before us into one family. Thank you for the memories of those who are now singing your eternal praises.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

9. We lift our prayers to you, God of mercy, confident that all things are in your hands. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.
