With the prayer “God of new life” you are invited to respond

  1. Filled by the Spirit, let us join the whole people of God in Christ Jesus in praying for the church, those in need and all of God’s creation

      A brief period of silence.

  1. Give a discerning spirit to our congregation and to all communities of faith as they prepare for their Fall program of education, worship and stewardship. In particular we pray for our partner Anglican Church of Canada and for the congregations of our BC Synod:for Christ the King Lutheran church in Surrey and their pastor, Gordon Hoeflicker; and for the special outreach ministry of Mount Olivet Lutheran church in North Vancouver and their pastor, Katalin Janko. Continue to guide and support each community of faith as their members seek to be faithful instruments of your love.

God of new life:   HEAR OUR PRAYER

  1. O Lord you know and see that all your people daily seek to accomplish your work in your church, in their families and in their communities. Give us courage to deny ourselves, to do more than we are inclined to do and be willing to take up our cross and follow you. Strengthen and guide us in our personal ministry.

God of new life:   HEAR OUR PRAYER

  1. At the summer breezes wane, and the leaves begins their colorful journey, make us mindful of the brevity of life, so that we would not leave off what you would have us say or do at this time of our life.. Give us the courage to forgive those who have harmed us or disappointed us in the past.

God of new life:   HEAR OUR PRAYER

  1. Teach our leaders to live peaceably with all nations, all peoples and all faiths. Bring light into the dark corners of the world and give courage to organizations that seek to overcome evil with good.

God of new life:   HEAR OUR PRAYER

  1. When our pain is unceasing, give us patience in suffering. When our wounds refuse to be healed, remember us with your mercy.   When hope seems lost, remind us that you are with us always. At this time we pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly at this time…

Help us in this coming week to respond to the needs of our neighbor.

  1. God, we thank you for how you continue to surprise us with your blessings:
 – we thank for forgiving us when we have disappointed you;
  – we thank you for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the
     gift of new life;
  – finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….

                God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

  1. Through the experiences of those who have died, show us how to hold fast to what is good.
