HEAR OUR PRAYER

1. With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus let us pray for the church, those in need and all of God’s creation

A brief period of silence.
2. Today we remember in thanksgiving those who in the past risked their popularity and their lives so that we would know the blessing of the gospel of good news. May the Holy Spirit continue to give us those who challenge our ways of living and our ways of thinking. We pray the working of that Spirit in all congregations and in all faith communities. In particular at this time we pray for our partner Anglican Church of Canada. We pray also for the congregations in our B.C. Synod: for Redeemer Lutheran Church in Vancouver; and their pastor, John Gram; and for Oakridge Lutheran church in Vancouver and their pastoral care minister, Dorothy Chu. May the members of all faith communities be courageous as they seek to know where God is leading them.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

3. God of grace, fill us with your life giving spirit so that we would see even those who disappoint us as our brothers and our sisters in Chris– each with their own special gifts and special burdens.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

4. God of grace, make us free to be one with your creation. Fill us with your Spirit and lead us to find ways to honor you with what you have given us. Free us as a nation and as individuals to abandon wasteful habits.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

5. God of grace, help us to be free as whole and healthy persons. Give strength and patience to those in their ministry of medical research. Give patience and understanding to those who are care givers, and give patience and understanding to those who receive care. We pray that all would be whole and well in mind, body and soul. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly at this time ….

In this coming week may we see our daily lives as opportunities to care for others.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

6. Lord, you are the giver of all good gifts
– we thank you for those who continue to confront our failure to be your loyal disciple;
– we thank you for those you who continue to comfort and encourage us when we are discouraged;
– we thank you at this time for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or      the gift of new life;
– finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

7. Make each of us free to be still and know you as a God of grace. May we wait with joyful expectation for that day when we will join our voices with all the saints who now sing in your heavenly choir.
God of new life: HEAR OUR PRAYER.

8. Trusting in your mercy and your goodness, we bring before you these prayers and whatever else you see that we need. We pray in the name of the one who has set us free, Jesus Christ our Saviour. AMEN
