With the prayer “Oh, Holy Child of Christmas” you are invited to respond:

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Confident that you have come to be with us, let us lift up the needs of the faithful, the ever-changing globe, and all of creation.

A moment of silence

Let us dance and rejoice in the light of your love and acceptance. Open our eyes to you walking and talking with us. Make us yours in a way that causes others to draw near what is good and right and true.

Oh, Holy Child of Christmas

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Let us open our mouths and sing that great song of praise contained in winter rain, snow-topped mountains, rushing rivers, and resting fields and deserts. Join our voices together in proclaiming that you are among us in a new way again this season of white in seasonal darkness.

Oh, Holy Child of Christmas

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Be there, through us, to hear each whisper of the hopeless, every request of the forgotten, each painful wail of the sick and grieving. Teach us to be so certain of your grace that we can act as you to those who are overwhelmed. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart…

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Oh, Holy Child of Christmas

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Let us open mouths wide to our fresh air renewed by winter rain—and live the week to come as those who have glimpsed rare goodness.

Oh, Holy Child of Christmas

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

May faith communities everywhere participate avidly in your great design. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Coquitlam and Pastor Eric Krushel, and King of Life in Coquitlam and their pastor Kathy Martin. Transform us all so that we know the riches of giving what we have.

Oh, Holy Child of Christmas

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Teach us to see our world and our lives through the lens of peace. And, having seen, move our hands, hearts—our very beings—to become change towards peace and prosperity for all.

Oh, Holy Child of Christmas

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Hold all children in your arms. Enrich the lives of the many young and vulnerable ones caught in the net of poverty, neglect, and abuse. Rain resilience upon them that they might survive and thrive.

Oh, Holy Child of Christmas

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

In all times, in every place, let us sit beneath your wings where we can know that nothing but our own inability to see separates us from you and the promises you keep.

In the name of Jesus who is here today, tomorrow, and always. AMEN
