With the words “Oh, Child of Light” you are invited to respond: SHINE UPON US.
A moment of silence
Called to know and love our world, we raise up prayers for the faithful, the world, and people needing hope and compassion.
Oh, Child of Light, SHINE UPON US.
Inspire us with wisdom that we may resist hatred and hopelessness in the face of terrorism and the evils committed in your name and oppress people of faith and goodwill.
Oh, Child of Light, SHINE UPON US.
Teach us to use all resources with gentleness and care. May we learn what is enough and resist greed in all its forms.
Oh, Child of Light, SHINE UPON US.
Help us break out of the bad habits that close our minds to the good that we are and can do. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: for Shepherd of the Valley in Langley and pastors Bradford Senften and Kristen Steele and Hope Shared Ministry in MacKenzie and Pastor Henry Dunbar.
Oh, Child of Light, SHINE UPON US.
Close our hearts to feelings of fear and worthlessness that keep us from being fully alive and completely yours. Teach us that shame and blame are not your wish for our homes and lives. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart….
(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)
Oh, Child of Light, SHINE UPON US.
Speak to us through our preachers, our teachers, and all of us as we do the work of our congregations. Minister through the mouths and hands of parish nurses, counsellors, spiritual directors, and all who embody your love in their vocations.
Oh, Child of Light, SHINE UPON US.
Help us each day to see you, learn you, and follow you more closely in the name of the one who creates, the one who came at Christmas, and the one who whispers our name day and night, night and day. AMEN
