With the words “Oh, God of redemption” you are invited to respond:

TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARD YOU.

A moment of silence

Called to be a light amidst darkness, we turn our hearts and minds toward faithful people everywhere, the world, and people in need of solace.

Oh, God of redemption, TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARD YOU.

Inspire us with wisdom that we may resist hatred and hopelessness in the face of terrorism. Help us to resist the evils committed in your name and oppress people of faith and goodwill.

Oh, God of redemption,  TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARD YOU.

Teach us to use all resources with gentleness and care. May we learn what is enough and resist greed in all its forms.

Oh, God of redemption,  TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARD YOU.

Teach us the good that we are and the good that we can do as your people. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maple Ridge and Pastor Roland Ziprick and Matsqui in Matsui.

Oh, God of redemption,  TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARD YOU.

Give us strength when we are weak and prayers when we are silent and empty. Lift up the weary and those who suffer so much. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart….

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Oh, God of redemption,  TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARD YOU.

Let our congregation brim with welcome and thanksgiving. Teach us to reach out to those we do not understand and learn the wondrous variety of human life and creativity.

Oh, God of redemption,  TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARD YOU.

May each day open like a book we cannot wait to read. Open our hearts and minds to your love and care, in the name of Christ whose tenderness knows no limits. AMEN
