With the words “Lord of hope and helpfulness,” you are invited to respond:

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

A moment of silence

We draw close to you at this time, knowing that our own deepest disappointments, fears, betrayals, and sufferings are familiar to you. We pray for your church and all those who believe, the world, and the people you love so passionately.

Lord of hope and helpfulness,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Give us the faith that will see us through the good times and the bad, that we trust in your goodness even when our way is difficult and the future seems bleak..

Lord of hope and helpfulness,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Awaken us from the lethargy of winter, of long nights and dark, rainy days. Turn our lungs to deep breaths of the air sweetened by growing things responding to the power of sun and increasing warmth.

Lord of hope and helpfulness,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Help us to trust that you will work through our presence in a suffering world, speak through our voices, and hold dear our neighbours. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: St. Paul Lutheran in Prince Rupert and Pastor James Whaley and for Our Saviour’s Lutheran in Richmond and Pastor Tim LeDrew.

Lord of hope and helpfulness,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Help us to live gracefully with the perpetual turmoil of the world, and of our own hearts, bodies, and minds. Heal those who feel the effects of illness and injury. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart….

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Lord of hope and helpfulness,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Help us each day to etch the mystery of your love into our lives, with all their joys and sorrows, tedium and holy moments. Remember your covenant with us, dear God, for we are your people, we are your people.

Lord of hope and helpfulness,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Into your hands, dear God we call upon as benevolent parent, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting only in goodness and mercy; through Jesus Christ, our Saviour, AMEN
