With the words “God of sorrow and strength,” you are invited to respond:
HEAL OUR HEARTS.
A moment of silence During our Lenten pilgrimage, we seek to stay awake and watch with you as you walk through darkness, betrayal, and eventually death. We pray for your church and all the faithful ones, the world, and the people you love in all their failings and fruitfulness.
God of sorrow and strength,
HEAL OUR HEARTS.
Make us so fervent and convincing in love and compassion that those around us take notice and go on their way renewed and changed, moved by a faith beyond all names.
God of sorrow and strength,
HEAL OUR HEARTS.
May we gaze upon the beauty of earth and sky, rich dark soil and growing things, with ever-new energy to care for this place that sustains us with sunlight, water, and countless nutrients. God of sorrow and strength,
HEAL OUR HEARTS.
Help us to trust that you will work through our presence in a suffering world, speak through our voices, and hold dear our neighbours. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Faith Lutheran in Powell River and Pastor Brenda Nestegaard Paul and for Our Saviour’s Lutheran in Prince George and Pastor Fleming Blishen.
God of sorrow and strength,
HEAL OUR HEARTS.
Provide relief and a sense of meaning to all those who suffer in heart, body, and mind. We pray especially for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart…. (Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer) God of sorrow and strength,
HEAL OUR HEARTS.
Help us to grab hold of the great mystery of salvation, and live in the freedom from evil and inner enslavement that you wish for all your dear children. Join us with all those, past, present, and future, who know what it is to be marked with your love. God of sorrow and strength,
HEAL OUR HEARTS.
Into your hands and hear, we place all for whom we pray, trusting in your abundant love. In the name of the Christ, AMEN
