With the words “Dear One, author of our deepest desires,” you are invited to respond:

HEAR US, HEAR US.

(echo Hear us, hear us)

Trusting the Spirit you promise us, we pray for the church, the world, and the whole of the cosmos.

A moment of silence

Turn our appetites to the feast to be laid before us in bread and wine, and divine transformation of these elements into your meandering reality among us and around the world.

Dear One, author of our deepest desires, HEAR US, HEAR US.

Push our noses into fragrant flowers, our hands into verdant dirt that we may celebrate all that grows on this earth, all that sustains life and breath and hope for the future.

Dear One, author of our deepest desires, HEAR US, HEAR US.

Breathe into the words, the actions, the intents of leaders a sense of your vision for a just and fair world. We pray especially for governments and agencies who shelter refugees and strive for peace and justice in troubled times.

Dear One, author of our deepest desires, HEAR US, HEAR US.

Take us to prayer, over and over, again and again until the treasure overflows into the lives we live, the people we love, the pain we encounter. Our hurts and failings are in your strong hands and we ask those hands to reach those who have no homes or no jobs, no freedom or no food. We pray especially for those we name aloud or in our inner chamber.

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Dear One, author of our deepest desires, HEAR US, HEAR US.

Work through our hands and speak through our voices as our congregation reaches out from (name specific ministries). Make us trust the seeds we plant to grow and propagate without already needing to see the fruits.

Dear One, author of our deepest desires, HEAR US, HEAR US.

Inspire our partnership with Anglican Church of Canada and the congregations of our BC Synod, especially Chetwynd Shared Ministry in Chetwynd and Pastor Marlene Peck and Christ Lutheran in Chilliwack and Pastor Dean Anderson.

Dear One, author of our deepest desires, HEAR US, HEAR US.

Remind us of the saints who reflect their glory into our lives. We remember especially Basil the Great, Gregory of Nyssa, Gregory of Nazianzus, and the teacher Macrina. Bring us into the presence of faith fully formed.

Dear One, author of our deepest desires, HEAR US, HEAR US.

Listen and lead us into eternity warm as summer, backlit with joy. We commit all this to you, calling on the name of Jesus, our brother and guide.  AMEN
