With the words “You shelter us like a hen protecting her chicks,” you are invited to respond:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
With confidence in your compassion and power, let us pray for the church, the world, and all those in need.
A moment of silence
Gracious God, your message and your community take many different expressions and forms. Grant us the discernment to recognize your work among us and the wisdom and courage to do what needs to be done to further your work in the world.
You shelter us like a hen protecting her chicks: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Thank you for bringing us to another time of harvest. Bless farmers, gardeners, farmers’ markets, and community gardens. Teach us old and new ways to share the bounty with all those who are hungry.
You shelter us like a hen protecting her chicks: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Touch the leaders of our nations that selfish ambition gives way to genuine concern for freedom and justice. Guide conflicts and disputes into resolution, and urge leaders to work to the good of all people.
You shelter us like a hen protecting her chicks: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Grant your peace and renewal to all those affected by shortened daylight hours, for those who struggle with envy, and for those who suffer from impulses and emotions at war within them. We prayer especially for those we name aloud or in the deep reaches of our hearts.
(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)
You shelter us like a hen protecting her chicks: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Bless our partnership with Anglican Church of Canada. Rain good things upon the congregations of our BC Synod, especially St. Paul Lutheran in Prince Rupert and Pastor James Whaley and Our Saviour Lutheran in Richmond and Pastor Tim LeDrew.
You shelter us like a hen protecting her chicks: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Bless the children of our congregation and community. Give them compassionate and patient families, caregivers, mentors, teachers, and friends. Assure them that they are never alone.
You shelter us like a hen protecting her chicks: HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Into your hands, we entrust our hopes and dreams, our fears and failings, our desires to be clearly and obviously your children, in the name of the Christ. AMEN.
