With the words, God of transformation and truth, you are invited to respond Hear our prayer.

As part of the faithful people in all times and all places, we pray for our church, for those in need, and for all of creation.

a brief silence

Omnipotent God, you make us powerful beyond our wildest imaginings, make us your body in the world through communion. Instill transforming power into our relationship with our partner Anglican Church of Canada, Bishop Logan, Bishop Greg and the congregations of our synod. We pray especially today for Faith Lutheran in Kelowna and Pastor Richard Schulz and Gloria Dei in North Vancouver and Pastor Jennifer Marlor.

God of transformation and truth,

Hear our prayer.

Make your Spirit whirl within and around us that your church will flourish in diversity and determination. Open our arms to one another that we can join in solidarity with the poor, the outcast, and the hurting ones.

God of transformation and truth,

Hear our prayer.

Open our eyes to the wonder that we are, the glory of you reflecting out of us and into an often-dark world. In the heat of midday and the cool breeze of midnight, let us trust your presence. May we allow it in transform the sharp edges of our souls into the perfect roundness of love and peace of mind.

God of transformation and truth,

Hear our prayer.

Make yourself part of our summer plans, in our leisure at home and as we travel. Let us give thanks for the bounty of gardens and farmers’ markets. Write wonder in our hearts as meteor showers streak across nighttime skies.

God of transformation and truth,

Hear our prayer.

Turn our hearts toward Jesus in times of illness and tribulations. Let us hear Jesus beside us, saying “I know and I am with you.” Let us in turn speak Jesus’ words to others in pain. We pray especially for those we name aloud or in the depths of our being. Bless those who have requested your care and strength (name those on the prayer list)

God of transformation and truth,

Hear our prayer.

Bring peace, more and more, little by little, into the world you love and cherish. Make us sing songs of unity, speak words of understanding that our leaders understand how serious we are about justice.

God of transformation and truth,

Hear our prayer.

Bring close to our hearts how praise becomes elevated in music, as we commemorate J.S. Bach, Heinrich Schutz, and George Frederick Handel. May we extend hospitality as did Mary, Martha, and Lazarus of Bethany. And we celebrate the impartiality of law instituted by Olaf, patron saint of Norway.

Into your loving arms, we place all for which we pray,

Amen
