As people who know that love changes everything, we pray for our church, for those in need, and for all of creation.

a brief silence

God of furious insight, make us dangerous people–people who will not stand for injustice, for unfairness, for cruelty. Make us a danger to anything that would tear down our partnership with the Anglican Church of Canada. Bless Bishop Logan, Bishop Greg and the congregations of our synod. We pray especially today for Ascension in Nelson and Pastor Katrina Vigen, Mount Zion in New Westminster and Pastor Marlys Moen, and Surrey Urban Mission Society.

Eternal God, you clothe us in love

You are the Lord of all languages, all the varied cultures of the world. We join our prayers with believers around the globe, asking that you make our witness to your power joyful, colourful, compelling.

Eternal God, you clothe us in love

Hear our prayer.

In creation, you made water the very basis of life as we know it. Let us drink our water with thankfulness, conserve it with care, and demand that fresh water never become a commodity denied to those  without enough money. Rain water upon fields and forests in good measure.

Eternal God, you clothe us in love

Hear our prayer.

In politics, we have the means to discuss and debate how we wish to live, how our society is to be organized. Make us call upon leaders to talk about issues, and to attack injustices rather than personalities. Let us advocate for peace and a prosperity that encompasses more and more of our people.

Eternal God, you clothe us in love

Hear our prayer.

Help us to accept times of illness, injury, pain, and puzzlement. Guide us always to pause and be still with you, that we might find deep healing even amidst difficulty.  We pray especially for those we name aloud or in the depths of our being. Bless those who have requested your care and strength (name those on the prayer list)

Eternal God, you clothe us in love

Hear our prayer.

Shape the stories of our lives that they be outlined in love and coloured with variety. Encourage us to pause each morning, and invite in the surprise that can make each day an adventure. Open our eyes to meaningful encounters with people at work, at play, and in the avenues of commerce.

Eternal God, you clothe us in love

Hear our prayer.

We pray, folding all our petitions in the Easter mystery shroud: Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again.

Amen
