Celebrating the naming of Jesus, we pray for your church, your world, and those in need.
a brief silence
Little Lord Jesus, humble and holy, your parents took you to synagogue for circumcision as we bring our infants for baptism. Bring faithful people everywhere together in the shared work of loving compassion. Bless Bishop Greg and the congregations of our synod. Today we pray especially for Benediction in Delta and Pastor Thomas Keeley and Trinity in Delta and Pastor Jennifer Wilson. Enlighten the work of our partnership with the Anglican Church of Canada. Bless Bishop (name) of the Diocese of (name).
Blessed love that comes to us
Hear our prayer.
Little Lord Jesus, as the sun glistens on snow-capped mountains and turbulent seas, your creation is marvellous. Make us walk gratefully on this planet, and use it prudently. Give us the courage to clamor unceasingly until all have the food and water they need for life.
Blessed love that comes to us
Hear our prayer.
Little Lord Jesus, your name is proclaimed through preaching, sacraments, music, art, and all forms of creativity. Bring together people of all faiths in ever-new ways to celebrate you, the ground of all being, you who make us creative enough to do your work in difficult times.
Blessed love that comes to us
Hear our prayer.
Little Lord Jesus, from an early age you attended to your own family. Today and tomorrow you offer us solace in times of pain, loneliness, and grief. Help us to open our eyes to your face before us. We pray especially for those who have requested your care and strength (name those on the prayer list)
Blessed love that comes to us
Hear our prayer.
Little Lord Jesus, as our new year begins go with us into our schools, workplaces, and organizations. Let us find ways every day to be your voice in the world, to spread comfort and laughter as we go about the business of daily life.
Blessed love that comes to us
Hear our prayer.
Little Lord Jesus, from heaven above to earth below, you come as our brother, our friend, our inspiration. Let us take time each morning and every night to ponder how and why that changes our lives.
Blessed love that comes to us
Hear our prayer.
In the name of the trinity, mystically dancing at your naming feast,
Amen
