Prayers for June 3, 2018 – Time After Pentecost
With the words “Your word, O Lord, is truth, ” you are invited to respond:
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Shining with your compassion acting through us, we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people in need.
A moment of silence
Let our mortal flesh be quiet as we rest our minds and relinquish our cares on the Sabbath. Teach us to find time for your spirit and truth to make our hands instruments of your caring. When you call, let us say, “Yes, Lord, I am here.”
Your word, O Lord, is truth
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Enable us to participate in your strength so that what is withered and weakened may be restored. Make us respond to the hungering and thirsting for us that was planted in our baptism. Let us accept gladly our role in reviving all the good that has ceased to flourish.
Your word, O Lord, is truth
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Transform our aching for peace and prosperity around the globe into action: advocacy, action, and sharing of our resources. Work among nations that your spirit be part of a global movement towards just leadership and fairness for all.
Your word, O Lord, is truth
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Soften the hard places in our hearts where we hang on to resentments and resistance to kindness and change. Open the channels between us and our neighbours that community can thrive and enrich everyday life. Feed us by our awareness of the small pleasures of night and day.
Your word, O Lord, is truth
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Bless our efforts to join with faithful people everywhere in compassion and holy shared concerns. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, and the bishop in your region, the Roman Catholic Church, and the bishop in your region and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Grace Lutheran in Burnaby and Pastor Nathan Fong and Mount Zion in Smithers.
Your word, O Lord, is truth
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Let us see you walking by our sides during times when we are perplexed, persecuted, and struck down in body, mind, or soul. Pour your light over dark times, and teach us to find strength in sharing our burdens. We pray for those we name aloud or silently in our hearts.
(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)
Your word, O Lord, is truth
HEAR OUR PRAYER.
Harkening always to our inner compass that is you, that is the direction you set in baptism, we deliver our prayers before your throne.
AMEN.
