Prayers for June 10, 2018 – Time After Pentecost
With the words “Hear us, Mother/Father God, ” you are invited to respond:
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
Trusting the words that come from you , we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people in need.
A moment of silence
Compassionate and Creative One, teach us how to overcome the divides within your church that it might demonstrate health and wholeness to the world. Bandage the wounds that separate us from our best selves and that keep us from walking each day in the sunshine of life with you.
Hear us, Mother/Father God
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
God of Hope and Renewal, enable us to encounter forgiveness, hope, and renewal in all manner of things on earth. Teach us the language that comforts and inspires others and ourselves. Empower us as we seek to do what is right and true.
Hear us, Mother/Father God
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
God of Courage, be with us as we walk away from you and from others because of fear. Give us the bravery of the Good Samaritan. Attune our ears to the needs and desires of poor people, strangers, and outcasts–the very ones you call us to love.
Hear us, Mother/Father God
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
Soften the hard places in our hearts where we hang on to resentments and resistance to kindness and change. Open the channels between us and our neighbours that community can thrive and enrich everyday life. Feed us by our awareness of the small pleasures–by night and by day.
Hear us, Mother/Father God
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
Join us with all people of faith and goodwill. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, the Bishop in your region, the Roman Catholic Church, the Bishop in your region and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Chetwynd Shared Ministry in Chetwynd and Christ in Chilliwack and Pastor Dean Andersen.
Hear us, Mother/Father God
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
Make us instruments of holy friendship as we encounter friends and neighbours in daily life. Strengthen us when others count on us–that shared burdens are diminished and shared joys magnified. We pray for those we name aloud or silently in our hearts.
(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)
Hear us, Mother/Father God
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
Trusting that you are always there, that you always hear, and that you stir up contentment in life, we pray in the name of the Christ,
AMEN.
