Prayers for June 17, 2018 – Time After Pentecost
With the words “O Strong and Vulnerable One, ” you are invited to respond:
HEAR US, BELOVED GOD.
Listening always for the quiet prompts of your spirit , we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people in need.
A moment of silence
Your divinity is like a mighty cedar protecting the earth and providing shade on a blisteringly hot day. Make your church a place where the seeds of your love are planted and nourished in the peacefulness of time set aside for worship and reflection.
O Strong and Vulnerable One
HEAR US, BELOVED GOD.
Your creativity moves in, around, and through all of creation. Send abundant rain to places of drought. Strengthen fire-fighters as they tackle another season of forest fires. Let us look to mountains and plains, oceans and rivers, with a mind to our role in cleansing and replenishing them.
O Strong and Vulnerable One
HEAR US, BELOVED GOD.
Your very word spoke the world into its beauty and bounty. Put your wisdom and words into world leaders, that we may move towards more peace and tranquility and less and less violence and unfairness.
O Strong and Vulnerable One
HEAR US, BELOVED GOD.
Your willingness to be Abba, Father, affirms the role of earthly fathers and father figures. Bless them with courage and imagination as they work and play with children, that they will flourish.
O Strong and Vulnerable One
HEAR US, BELOVED GOD.
Your spirit moves among people of faith and goodwill, among all those seeking truth. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada, the Bishop in your region, the Roman Catholic Church, the Bishop in your region and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Shepherd of the Valley in Comox, our seminaries in Saskatoon and Waterloo; and their faculty, staff, and students.
O Strong and Vulnerable One
HEAR US, BELOVED GOD.
Your renewing love provides a well-spring of hope in times of illness, injury, grief, and loss. Help us to wait patiently for the wisdom that comes in the mornings after long, painful nights. None of escapes life without trial, and we pray for those we name aloud or silently in our hearts.
(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)
O Strong and Vulnerable One
HEAR US, BELOVED GOD.
Trusting that you walk beside us, lead us with your love, and enable us to learn patience at your knee. We send these pleadings up to you like a balloon. In the name of the Christ,
AMEN.
